Roofer Helper

Job Description:

Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
Assist Roofers with the install, repair or replace built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel
Erect and dismantle scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites
Mix, pour, heat, mop and spread materials such as asphalt
Help trades people with install, repair or replace single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics, elastomeric or other asphaltic compositions
Assist tradespersons such as roofers in construction activities
Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities
Assist with install, repair or replace shingles, shakes and other roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings as required
Help prepare and trades people to Install sheet metal flashings
Assist in demolishing old roofing system using prying bars and other tools, and sort, clean and pile salvaged materials
Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment as well as keep site clean
Help to apply waterproof coatings to concrete or other masonry surfaces below or above ground level
Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction such as asphalt mixer, compressors and pumps as well as others as required
Assist with the install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools as directed by the trades person being helped
Clean up asphalt spills and other hazardous materials
Oil and grease hoists and similar equipment
Direct traffic at or near construction sites
Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed.

Job Requirements:

Two or more years of experience as a Roofer or Roofer helper
Solid understanding of Cladding installation is an asset
Employee works independently on general assignments
Work safely and follow safety procedures
Mathematical background is an asset
Reading and interpreting blueprints
Able to operate equipment and machinery and different tools
Able to work in all weather conditions
Able to lift at least 40-50 pounds
Able to stand, kneel and bend for long hours
Should be physically fit
Able to be flexible and adaptable to site and working conditions
Good Team player
Adheres to safety protocols
Ability to understand directions as per supervisor
