Accounting Manager

Job Description:

Maintain and oversee all accounting procedures and processes.
Provide training to new and existing staff as required.
Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
Produce monthly and annual financial statements.
Responsible for preparing journal entries with the appropriate supporting documentation.
Effectively lead and manage the escalation and resolution of reporting issues or significant variances from expected results.
Complete daily bank reconciliations.
Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, analysis and related schedules
Maintain fixed asset continuity schedule and calculate monthly depreciation.
Ensure all related party transactions are recorded correctly and balance. 
Prepares, process and ensure compliance to corporate, government, and accounting requirements (HST,
WSIB, EHT etc.)
Establish and implement internal controls and accounting policies
Facilitates annual audit by providing information and answers to auditors
Prepare other ad hoc financial reports as required by senior management.
Provides direct supervision to Finance and Administration unit; some employees doing skilled or difficult work.
Progressive flow/sharing of information.
Participate as a member of Sr. Management Team to define strategy and organize continuous/progressive improvements to business as well as make decisions at both company and functional level.
All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

A recognized accounting designation (CPA, CA, CPA, CMA or CPA, CGA) is an asset.
Be accountable for the day-to-day supervision of personnel in the
accounting department in their financial functions.
Construction background preferred.
Demonstrate an understanding of profitability by function including estimating, purchasing, inventory management, field operations and production.
Demonstrated ability to select, train, supervise, direct, and coordinate the work of lower level staff.
Strong IT, software and hardware management skills. Experience using Microsoft applications (Office, MS Project,
Visio, Outlook and Internet). Jonas Construction Software is knowledge would be an asset or alternative
construction based/oriented software.

Strong English communication skills
Analyze and interpret complex financial and accounting records.
Interpret and apply company/accounting department policies
Works independently on general assignments.
Position required to co-ordinate various related activities
or work units across company.
Reporting to Vice President largely accomplished by results and employee refers matters concerning policy change.
Keep confidential data and information used and consider it classified as secret which is confidential.
Trustworthy with the highest level of confidential data/information and integrity.
